Emanuel - Alt Therapy Session 1: Disilusion

I don’t know how I came across this album (thanks Spotify), but I’m glad I did. Emanuel is an R&B/Soul singer with a blissful voice, reminscient of early The Weeknd or Frank Ocean. This release is an extended release of his first single, “Need You”, which leads off the EP. The lyrical content is similar to The Weeknd, as Emanuel sings about past and current lovers and ruminating on mistakes made. “I feel like I just fell in love with you, like a song on the radio..”. The opening track has Emanuel singing over a piano driven song and he’s expressing his deeeeep love for someone. “If the love is pure, should we taste some more?” finds Emanuel questioning how to advance the relationship. He’s commented that his music is therapeutic for him, evidenced by the title of the EP. 3 tracks, with a 4th a remix of “Need You”, the album plays through in under 15 minutes and give you a good idea of what Emanuel brings to the table. The first two tracks play slowly, with the third “Addiction” being a bit more upbeat. He may benefit from better beat/music selection, but his voice is there. Looking forward to more new music from Emanuel.
