Music and Sound
Music is the audible expression of human emotion. I have a backlog of albums to catch up on since TOOL has dominated my sonic journeys as of late. Going forward I’ll be posting music related notes under the “What’s Heard” page, if you‘d like to know my thoughts on what’s heard.
NFL Sunday
Remember when the NFL said that their players evolved to the point where their brains are less susceptible to injury? Or that concussed players who return in the same game are at no further risk for injury? That's almost as insane as giving players who use cannabis harsher penalties than those that abuse their spouse or partners. Though the sport and league are deeply rooted in our culture, we should give further thought to why we support these institutions that shape our culture. Or maybe not. Maybe it's just the American way.
Birds Up
I hope the Runners continue to prosper this season.
Kima Enjoys Tennis
I wonder if she understands the scoring system.
Dave Lane Astrophotography
David Lane provides a unique view of the universe that we live in. Art like this is inspiring as it presents a unique view of our universe that most would not have the opportunity to experience. Thank you Mr. Lane for this perspective on the galaxy.
Chicano Batman - Black Lipstick
I don’t remember how I got into this band, but seeing them in concert introduced me to Khruangbin. Two amazing bands…. and this song is sick. “A capitalist with her affection”

C’mon Brittany!!!!!
Everything is beautiful…I already feel like doing it again.
What a beautiful tune
New Brittany Howard
Dissapointed as I am to learn that new music from the Alabama Shakes will not be released any time soon, new sounds from Brittany are always welcome. Too funky
Shaping Reality
https://aeon.co/essays/how-our-brain-sculpts-experience-in-line-with-our-expectations
Once you peel back the layers of your thought habits and processes you realize you’re in control of your life in ways that once seemed unimaginable. The belief that we shape our own experience in life has proven that our perceptions do become our realities. How we process and perceive the world in our minds then becomes an external reality. Some of us have had that reality distorted through life experiences, and we must peel back these distortions layer by layer, experience by experience until we get to a point where we find peace, both inner and outer. The idea that you can control the world around you is a powerful one. Jazz composer Kamasi Washington said it best, “The world that my mind live in, lives in my mind”.
